How long must people be on the island before they can marry?
There is no required length of stay before or after marrying in Bermuda.
How long does it take to get a marriage license?
It takes 15 days or a licence to be issued. About six weeks before your wedding, we will submit your paperwork to the Registrar General’s office. It is valid for three months from the date of issue.
Are witnesses required?
Two witnesses who are at least 18 years old must sign your marriage licence. If it is just the two of you, we can provide two witnesses at no extra charge.
Are Bermuda marriages legal worldwide?
Within one month, you receive an official marriage certificate that is recognized and legal worldwide.
I am divorced. Can I get married in Bermuda?
Yes. A copy of your divorce decree must be submitted with your Notice of Intended Marriage.
